Star Wars Characters Dancing Along To Pharrell’s “Happy”.

In honor of Valentine’s Day tomorrow, I thought I’d share a blast from the past that was a favorite in my household when I was growing up. My parents and I still talk about all the songs we loved in the D-TV episode titled “Doggone Valentine.”
For those of you who don’t remember it, D-TV was Disney’s kid-friendly response to the growing popularity of music videos in the mid to late 1980s. Originally released on NBC for Valentine’s Day 1987, “Doggone Valentine” was branded as “Doggone Hits” in subsequent airings on the Disney Channel. I think this is where my parents taped it on VHS, ostensibly for me, but mostly because they loved the songs featured, like “Stray Cat Strut” and “Bad to the Bone.” You can watch the entire special in five parts on YouTube, which are linked below:
Note that the last video is mis-labled as “Part 6”, but it’s actually the fifth and final part.
Many thanks to YouTube subscriber ReijiThePhantom and his 80s TV nostalgia videos!
Hi everybody! This week I was a guest on Carrie Hayward’s Disney Weddings Podcast, and we discussed various options for preserving and displaying wedding photos. This is advice that I think also transfers to other Disney vacation photos and mementos, so be sure to check it out!
Also, for any Disney brides and grooms that may be reading, if you’re not already acquainted with Carrie, be sure to check out her blog, Disney Travel Babble, and her book, PassPorter’s Disney Weddings and Honeymoons. Carrie possesses a wealth of information on weddings in Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and on the Disney Cruise Line, and her resources were invaluable to Danny and me in planning our own wedding.
Happy Halloween, everybody! Today we’re sharing two short films by the Daws Brothers, independent filmmakers who caught the eye of the Disney community last Halloween when they recorded a short film almost entirely at Disneyland. Missing in the Mansion follows three people on a special day at Disneyland that goes horribly wrong. This year, they’ve released a second installment titled Followed from the Mansion. You can enjoy wall-to-wall creeps in both videos below, and make sure to check out their YouTube page for a video on the making of Missing in the Mansion and other works.
There are two new Mickey Mouse shorts online! First up, Pluto makes his all-too-brief debut in Dog Show.
There’s not a lot to say about Dog Show. Mickey and Pluto are training for a dog show, but Pluto is in a terrible accident. Goofy tries to stand in as his replacement, but plans go awry when Goofy interprets the shows events in unusual ways. Continue reading
Muppets Most Wanted is coming to theaters in the USA on March 21, 2014, and we just got our first look at the teaser trailer. Although it’s short and vague, we’re nearly as excited as Kermit.
Although it doesn’t give much information on what will happen in the newest Muppets installment, the trailer does offer a tiny glimpse at some of the amazing comedic and musical talent that will be included in the new film. We’re excited to see Kermit and the gang share time with stars like Tina Fey and Ricky Gervais, and thrilled to see cameos from everyone from Danny Trejo and Til Schweiger to Usher and Céline Dion.
What we know so far about Muppets Most Wanted is that our favorite felt friends will find themselves caught in a major jewel heist while in the middle of a world tour. Does that sound familiar? If hot air balloons are involved, the Chipmunks and Chippettes may be able to sue for copyright infringement. Luckily, the Muppets will bring their own brand of magic, humor and meta-fiction that Alvin could only dream of. We love movies about movies, and the Muppets never disappoint in offering their own take on the entertainment industry. Although there are some other Disney offerings slated for release in the meantime, we’re already looking forward to spring.
What did you think of the Muppets teaser? If you haven’t seen it yet, you can watch it HERE.
We’ve been MIA this week and will probably not be around much next week either. Tonight we’re both getting a little rest and watching movies. What are we watching? Not this:
I prefer the real Frankie and Annette.
The first trailer for Saving Mr. Banks is now online! We were very excited to get our first glimpse of Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson as Walt Disney and P.L. Travers. The trailer has definitely made us excited for the upcoming film, which releases in the USA on 13 December, 2013. Continue reading
